Cumbernauld Environmental Society has begun work on their first project, a multi-phase initiative to redevelop an overgrown plot of land in Prospect Road, Dullatur.
Work began on Phase 1 of the project on Tuesday 31st May and has seen local gardening experts and enthusiasts work in conjunction with rangers from North Lanarkshire Council Environmental Services department, with assistance from Scottish and Southern Electric who have provided a number of volunteers.
The land has now been cleared of weeds and diseased trees, and a number of new species planted, in the first of a number of planned landscaping works led by Cumbernauld Environmental Society.
On Thursday 2nd June the project had some small helping hands when children from Craigard Nursery came along to help out and to learn more about the environment in Cumbernauld. On Thursday, local MP Gregg McClymont also visited the area, as well as local Councillor Bob Chadha. Councillor Barry McCulloch came along earlier in the week too and even got his hands dirty in the process.
