Post-Summer Update

Well it’s been a busy few months for the group as we work towards making our town a better place to live, work, and visit.

Since our last update in late June, the Society has: continued our work on the ‘Dullatur Project’; been in preliminary negotiations with North Lanarkshire Council regarding a number of proposed improvements to be made to the Broadwood Loch area; Raised the profile of vandalism in the town while assisting with efforts to repair and restore a destroyed garden area at St Margaret’s Primary School; had a presence at the Cumbernauld Gala Day event; and actively sought funding opportunities in order to progress other projects within Cumbernauld.

And in a fantastic acheivement for Cumbernauld as a whole, the town was presented with a Silver Award from Beautiful Scotland at their award ceremony in Rothesay on Monday 12th September. At the same event, Condorrat Tenants & Residents’ Association, and Cumbernauld Village Action for the Community were also presented with Silver awards for their individual efforts.

The next meeting of Cumbernauld Environmental Society is at 10am on Thursday 29th September at the Lecture Theatre of Palacerigg Country Park. All are welcome to attend.
