On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November, Cumbernauld was one of only two towns in Scotland to take part in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Dig Together Day. With 420 saplings provided by the Woodland Trust, and with a kind donation of young trees from the Cumbernauld Village branch of Co-Operative Funeralcare, a number of areas throughout the town will hopefully benefit from these new plantings for many years to come.
Among the tree sapling species planted in Greenfaulds, Seafar, and at Dullatur Golf Club; were Hawthorn, Silver Birch, Rowan, Dogwood, and Wild Cherry. The new plantings in the ongoing development at Greenfaulds Orchard were combined with other landscape enhancements and improvements to drainage.
The planting events were co-ordinated by Cumbernauld Environmental Society with support from Cumbernauld Rotary Club and Seafar and Ravenswood Community Council.

On behalf of everyone at Cumbernauld Environmental Society may you have an enjoyable festive season and we look forward to continuing to deliver environmental improvements to Cumbernauld in 2013 and for many years to come.
