Showing Off

A vacant unit in the Antonine Shopping Centre now has a new tenant as the former Gamestation store is currently being used to proudly display Cumbernauld’s Beautiful Scotland Award.

Passers-by can view the award certificate and the silver quaich alongside details of those groups who played a part in the award win. The display also includes a number of press cuttings after news of Cumbernauld’s success was featured in the Daily Record, The Sun, the Daily Mail, and The Herald.

Adam Smith, Vice-Chair of Cumbernauld Environmental Society, said “Cumbernauld’s Beautiful Scotland Award win was such a fantastic achievement for the town we really wanted to show it off in a prominent location. Our thanks to Karen Blair and the Antonine Centre for allowing us to use the unit. Hopefully this will help spread awareness of Cumbernauld’s excellent greenspaces and will reverse the unfair carbuncle image of our town”.

Cumbernauld Environmental Society will be thanking all local groups who took part in this year’s Beautiful Scotland campaign when they hold their own Beautiful Cumbernauld Award Ceremony on Thursday 24th October.
