Earlier today Cumbernauld was assessed by Beautiful Scotland judges for this year’s competition, where Cumbernauld is again an entrant in the Small City category. The judges visited Palacerigg Country Park, Watch Us Grow, Cumbernauld Community Memorial Peace Garden, Ravenswood Primary School, Broadwood Loch, Cumbernauld Village Allotments and Langriggs, and Cumbernauld Glen Nature Reserve.
Adam Smith, Vice-Chair of Cumbernauld Environmental Society, said: “While we co-ordinate Cumbernauld’s overall entry to Beautiful Scotland, the judging visit really couldn’t have been made possible without the support of the participating groups and individual environmental projects. The judges didn’t give much away but we hope that this year we can see an improvement on our perpetual Silver Award, and a return of the Beautiful Scotland trophy to Cumbernauld following our category win in 2013. Dunfermline will be tough competition, but we look forward to finding out the results at the Beautiful Scotland Award Ceremony in Perth on Thursday 10th September”.
