Awards success for CES

Following Cumbernaulds recent win of a Silver Award in this year’s Keep Scotland Beautiful competition, now Cumbernauld Environmental Society have followed that up with a high ranking in the “It’s Your Neighbourhood” campaign. The Society, still in its first year of operation as a standalone group, scored 70 points out of 100, earning a Level four (out of five) designation of “Thriving”.

The assessor particularly noted the work of Cumbernauld Environmental Society on the Dullatur Project, and our “ambitious but admirable” attempts to bring together the numerous environmentally-minded groups that operate within Cumbernauld and the surrounding area. The assessment form went on to say “The group have done exceptionally well to fall within the “Thriving” category on their first year in the “It’s Your Neighbourhood” campaign. Keep up the good work!”

Earlier this month, Cumbernauld Environmental Society held an informal ‘award ceremony’ for local community groups, all of whom made an invaluable contribution to the town’s achievement of a Silver award in the Keep Scotland Beautiful competition. On Monday 17th September, a number of local organisations gathered at Palacerigg Country Park and each received their own copy of the award in recognition of their achievement. Groups present at the event included: Watch Us Grow, The Alpha Project, Cumbernauld Allotments Association, Friends of Cumbernauld House Park, Cumbernauld Village Action for the Community, and Friends of Cumbernauld Community Park. The presentation was covered by the Cumbernauld News in an online article which can be found here: Groups get together to celebrate Cumbernauld environmental awards.
